If your baby is premature, has low birth weight, or requires special needs, they may need to be seen by a neonatologist, which is a physician who focuses on the management of newborns less than 28 days old. If your baby requires follow up by a neonatologist after birth, they will be referred to a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Follow-up Clinic.
