For those seeking summer volunteer opportunities, we have a post-secondary and high school Summer Volunteer Program.
Intake period for the summer program is March 1 to April 30. The post-secondary summer program runs from May to end of August and the high school summer program runs from July to end of August.
This program is open to all new and returning student volunteers who are available to volunteer during the summer only. Returning summer students are not required to complete a new application package. Please send an email to studentvolunteering@oakvalleyhealth.ca to indicate your interest in summer volunteering.
Must be available to volunteer throughout the summer.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 16 years or older (at the time of application)
- A commitment to volunteer through the summer
- Post-secondary student: May to August
- High school student: July to August

What to expect
If a new candidate is short-listed to be a volunteer, they must attend an interview and a volunteer orientation before they can begin volunteering.
Once selected as a volunteer candidate, applicants must provide:
- Police vulnerable sector check (volunteers pay a discounted fee to apply) if you are 18 years or older. We can provide you with a supporting letter at the interview.
- Completed immunization records including two-step tuberculosis screening, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, Tdap, and hepatitis B (immunization status only).

Community and Volunteer Resources will notify applicants who have been short-listed for an interview. Due to the high volume of applications received, we are unable to offer volunteer placements to all candidates and we will only contact successful candidates.
