Learn more about the risks, causes, and treatment of liver cancer
A tumour in the liver is known as liver cancer. The liver is located on the upper right side of the abdomen, just below the ribs.
The majority of primary liver tumors are hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) comprising most of the remaining cases. HCC is a primary liver cancer that typically develops in the setting of chronic liver disease, particularly in patients with cirrhosis or chronic Hepatitis B infection.
