Dr. Paul Lokoff joined Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) as an anaesthesiologist when the hospital opened in March 1990. He served as Department Chief from 2004 to 2014 and again from 2017 to 2024. He has been an active member of the department, initiating a high quality acute pain service as well as a “parent present induction” program at MSH. Currently, Dr. Lokoff leads the Opioid Reduction Strategy within the surgical program, and the department actively supports same-day joint replacement surgery.

Dr. Lokoff is a graduate of the University of Toronto where he completed his medical training and education in anaesthesia. He completed a fellowship in liver transplantation at University of Toronto and has previously worked at Addenbrookes Hospital at Cambridge University in the UK as well as Kaiser Permanente Southern California.

Special interests include pain management, obstetric anaesthesia and the teaching of medical students and anaesthesia residents. He holds a university appointment as lecturer at the University of Toronto.
