Dr. Allan Grill is Chief of Family Medicine at Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital.

He is also the lead physician of Markham Family Health Team, where he has an active clinical practice. He serves in several professional leadership roles, including Chair of the Committee to Evaluate Drugs (CED), an expert advisory committee to the Ontario Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care on drug policy issues, and part-time physician advisor for the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Until recently, Dr. Grill was the provincial medical lead, primary care, for the CCO-Ontario Renal Network, focusing on innovative ways to improve early detection and prevention of progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD), as well as safe medication prescribing for patients with impaired kidney function. He is credited with co-creating the KidneyWise Clinical Toolkit to help support primary care providers in the management of CKD. For these efforts, Dr. Grill received the Canadian Certified Physician Executive credential in 2016 from the Canadian Medical Association and Canadian Society of Physician Leaders, recognizing competency and excellence in physician leadership.

Dr. Grill completed his MD and family medicine training at the University of Toronto where he is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. He also has a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University.
