Magic isn’t only for tricks. Sometimes, magic comes in different forms, including within hospital walls.

Like other patients with COVID-19, Arthur Sercan couldn’t have visitors during his month long stay at Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH).

His wife of 19 years, Jenny Spanos, couldn’t hold his hand while he lay in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), sedated and often delirious, breathing with the help of a ventilator.

But, Arthur didn’t go through his illness alone. He had the support of MSH’s ICU, Medicine and Rehabilitation (rehab) teams.
