Brian and Laura Tang knew they would be having their baby in January, but never did they think their daughter would be born on New Year’s Day.
“It’s an incredible way to start the decade with a new member of our family,” admits Laura.
Sophie Tang entered the world at 5:07 a.m. on January 1, 2020 and was the first baby of the new decade born at Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH).
The beautiful little girl is the first child for the proud parents, who both grew up in Markham and now reside in Toronto.
Brian admits that they chose to have their baby at MSH after “hearing good things about the hospital. Members of my extended family have received nothing but great care here,” he said.
“The team – including my obstetrician Dr. Jeffrey Gilmour and nurses Carmen Meister, Ashley Slomka, and Fahimeh Hazeri – were wonderful and I couldn’t have asked for more,” Laura adds.
“They kept me comfortable and explained everything every step of the way so I could make informed decisions throughout my labour.”
