Markham Stouffville Hospital (MSH) has been recognized by Trillium Gift of Life Network (TGLN) for the hospital’s outstanding support of organ and tissue donation.

On November 13, MSH was presented with its second provincial conversion rate award from TGLN. The award is given to hospitals that have met or exceeded TGLN’s annual target for the number of potential donors who became actual donors.

Last year, MSH had three organ donors, which led to 13 life-saving organ transplants and 25 tissue donations that enhanced the lives of many, and positioned the organization as one of the top three performers for conversion rate among all GTA hospitals.

“I am honoured to work alongside such an extraordinary team,” said Barb Steed, Executive Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Practice Officer at MSH.

“Our staff and physicians are committed to delivering care beyond our walls and achieving a second provincial conversion rate award is a testament to the efforts of so many across our hospital in supporting the exceptional efforts at TGLN to build a culture of organ and tissue donation in Ontario.”

“Thanks to the dedication and incredible work of the MSH team, individuals in Markham, Whitchurch-Stouffville, Uxbridge and beyond are able to have their registered consent for donation honoured, save lives and leave a lasting legacy,” added Karen Johnson, Director of Hospital Programs at TGLN.
