For Natalie this is her perfect job. Her love of food led her to become a dietitian and she is inspired when she sees the difference she can make in a patient’s life. “I feel valued when my patients really understand the explanation I’ve given about the science behind my recommendations and are motivated to follow my advice,” Natalie explained.

“Food brings people together. It’s used to show people you care about them. It’s an integral part of most cultures and is vitally important in the prevention and treatment of many health conditions.”

The variety of work and new challenges ensures there is never a dull day. Natalie enjoys working with interprofessional teams from across the hospital. Her favourite part of the day is working closely with her colleagues and families to discuss a care plan to help someone meet their dietary goals. “I love working in an environment where everyone’s perspectives and opinions are valued and considered when making decisions.”

In her free time, pre-pandemic, self-proclaimed “hockey mom” Natalie could usually be found at the rink cheering her boys on. When she is home, she loves cooking for friends and family, the more the merrier. These days, Natalie still loves to try out new recipes, but it’s for a much smaller crowd.
