“I love the people I work with! I love that we are able to stop and laugh with each other during the day, enjoy some team camaraderie, and find the positives in work every day together.”

Lindsay is an organizational development consultant in the talent strategy department at Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital. She is passionate about educating and helping people – growing up, she always wanted to be a gym teacher!

Having joined Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital in March 2019, Lindsay has quickly come to love working with the many incredible people, not just in her department but throughout the organization. The opportunity to collaborate with such a vast array of expertise and perspectives means she’s learning something every day and building relationships. She also enjoys working with a team who loves to laugh and find the humour in life as much as she does.

Lindsay enjoys contributing to the various personal and professional development programs available to staff through the Organization Development department. From new hire orientation to the leadership development program, she believes in the value of building your capacity, drawing on the strengths of the people you work with.

What you say or how you act can make or break someone’s day. This is especially crucial in healthcare and during a pandemic; everyone has their stressful moments of course, but any opportunity where we can be mindful of our actions we should act on it.

If there’s one value that resonates most with Lindsay, it would be ‘respect’. This is why Lindsay is passionate about the Equity, Diversion and Inclusion (EDI) committee at MSH. As a member of the committee, her goal is to work towards implementing change systemically through awareness and education so that we can be proud to work in an inclusive organization where all stakeholders can feel safe.

“We live in a world right now where understanding that everyone has a story, whether you know it or not, should drive how we interact with each other. What you say or how you act can make or break someone’s day. This is especially crucial in healthcare and during a pandemic; everyone has their stressful moments of course, but any opportunity where we can be mindful of our actions we should act on it.”

Outside of life at Oak Valley Health’s Markham Stouffville Hospital, family is number one for Lindsay. She enjoys spending time outdoors and being active with her husband and two kids, but ultimately what she enjoys most is making room for that quality family time, together, whether camping, skiing, or just enjoying lazy jammie days watching superhero movies.
