First-ever event surpasses expectations with over $500,000 in support for the new Uxbridge Hospital
On October 3 to 4, 2024, more than 450 local hockey enthusiasts joined forces with some of the NHL’s most illustrious alumni players at the first-ever Uxbridge Hospital Celebrity Hockey Classic. And though their sights were set on a total fundraising goal of $200,000, the inaugural event brought in an historic half-a-million dollars for Uxbridge Hospital Foundation — the most raised at a community event to date.
“Uxbridge was honoured to host these NHL superstars as we came together to support our community hospital,” says Jim Williamson, Board Chair, Uxbridge Hospital Foundation. “Events like this ensure we can provide excellent care right now, close to home, while paving the way for a brighter, healthier tomorrow for Uxbridge.
“We are incredibly grateful to all who participated and showed their support for this year’s event!”
Sponsored by TCG National and Canadian Tire Uxbridge, the tournament supports Uxbridge Hospital as we work to fully realize the vision for the construction of a new hospital that will meet the community’s current and future needs. Funds raised through the event will also help secure the tools, equipment, and infrastructure needed to continue delivering excellent care to patients in Uxbridge and across the entire region.
Among the former NHL hockey players who took part in the two-day event were Wendel Clark, Nik Antropov, Doug Gilmour, and Brad May.
