Meet Jing Wang: A Committed MRT
For almost 19 years, Jing Wang has been a dedicated and skilled Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) at Oak Valley Health. Her role in the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) department spans multiple modalities, including interventional radiology (IR), CT, mammography, and X-ray. Jing’s primary responsibilities—conducting diagnostic exams and assisting radiologists during interventional procedures—make her a key part of patient care and a valued member of her team.
Jing shares: “I feel lucky to work in our department. Our team leaders listen and strive to improve our work environment, our radiologists are respectful and supportive, and my fellow technologists and nurses are dedicated and passionate.”
Jing describes the variety and challenges in her daily work as especially rewarding. Each modality offers unique demands, from precise imaging in CT and mammography to the collaborative intensity of IR. Jing finds deep satisfaction in seeing patients through these diagnostic stages, sometimes multiple times during their care journey. Witnessing their progress and knowing her efforts play a part in their recovery reinforces her commitment to her work.
Among Oak Valley Health’s values, Commitment resonates most with Jing, reflective of her dedication to her patients and her pride in contributing to their healing. Many patients first encounter her in Emergency X-ray or CT, later meeting her again in IR or CT as inpatients. This continuity of care allows Jing to build rapport with patients while offering steady support through the varied stages of their treatment.
Jing takes pride in being part of the patient care process and seeing her impact through different stages of diagnosis and treatment: “knowing that my role contributes to their recovery and care is incredibly fulfilling,” she says.
When not at the hospital, Jing finds balance through her many hobbies. She reads in both English and Chinese, enjoys knitting when she finds an inspiring pattern, and stays active with table tennis and trail walks with friends. At home, she relishes the time spent cooking, especially when her kids are around, bringing her family together and creating joyful moments.
Reflecting on her career, Jing feels immense gratitude for her role at Oak Valley Health. “Being an MRT is my second career, but it has been my favourite,” she says. Over the years, she has not only honed her skills, but also witnessed the growth of the DI department and the hospital. Proud to be part of a dedicated team, Jing values the positive work culture and the sense of purpose her role brings to her life.
