Supporting care through project management
Since joining the Transformation Project Management Office in February, Godfrey Wong has embraced his role as project manager with a clear mission: to make systems and processes more efficient, intuitive, and supportive for staff across the organization.
Godfrey enjoys seeing the impact his projects reach across all levels of the organization —how each project contributes to smoother operations, improved staff experiences, and ultimately, better care for patients.
“I am currently leading the UKG Pro Workforce Management project, which is going to be Oak Valley Health’s new electronic scheduling and timekeeping software. I am also helping support the inpatient code stroke initiative to standardize and establish a response protocol when a patient within the hospital exhibits signs and symptoms of stroke.”
These are just two of several initiatives Godfrey is helping to advance.

His day-to-day consists of managing large-scale projects that support the development of the organization’s Strategic Plan and goals. He acknowledges that the role of a project manager is vital to the organization’s success.
“The project manager role means taking on the responsibility and lead of moving a project from conception and planning to execution, and monitoring and evaluating the final deliverable,” says Godfrey. “As a project manager, we help to ensure the project is done well, delivered in a timely manner, and within the resources available.”
Godfrey brings a well-rounded perspective to his role, thanks to his clinical background as an Occupational Therapist. He began his career in community-based rehabilitation before transitioning into non-clinical roles in virtual care, patient flow, and clinical operations within the hospital system.
“One of the biggest reasons that brought me to Oak Valley Health was the fact that Markham Stouffville Hospital is and has been my local hospital growing up. The opportunity to contribute to a key pillar of the local community and have a positive impact on community members who may access Oak Valley Health’s services was very meaningful.”
He also resonates deeply with the organization’s core values—particularly the value of courage.
Godfrey explains, “the idea of standing up for what is right, taking ownership of our actions, and being responsible for solving problems speaks to me as it reflected a leadership focus to be accountable and responsible within the larger community and health care system from which we serve.”
Beyond his work at Oak Valley Health, Godfrey brings a global perspective from his time studying in Sweden as a clinical student. Immersed in a culture of hands-on learning and collaboration, the experience helped shape his approach to leadership and innovation.

With every project he leads, Godfrey is not only improving workflows and systems but helping to create a healthier, more connected workplace—one where staff can thrive and patients receive exceptional care. His commitment to thoughtful, strategic project management continues to drive positive change at Oak Valley Health and in the community he calls home.
