Patients seen in the Stroke Prevention Clinic have suffered from stroke - or transient ischemic attack (TIA)-like symptoms, which can include sudden neurological deficits that impact the ability to move or feel one side of the body, cause speech or vision changes, or lead to confusion.

Who comes to the Stroke Prevention Clinic?

Patients are referred to the clinic following a visit to the hospital’s Emergency Department. Urgent patients are seen at the clinic within one to two days of their Emergency Department visit, with semi-urgent patients being seen within one week.

Our health care providers in the Stroke Prevention Clinic include our nurse practitioner, neurologists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Care we provide in the Stroke Prevention Clinic

If you are seen in our Stroke Prevention Clinic, you will be assessed with a thorough history, examination, and diagnostic tests. Later you will receive appropriate treatment including best evidence-based practice for pharmaceuticals. You may also be given referrals to lifestyle and rehabilitation programs.
