Interventional Radiology (IR) is a subspecialty of Diagnostic Imaging that uses minimally-invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system. IR offers patients a less painful procedure with less blood loss, lower risk of infection, and faster recovery time.
Oak Valley Health’s IR Suite houses a state-of-the-art General Electric Interventional Radiology System – the first to be installed in a Canadian hospital. We have the latest and most advanced system, the Allia IGS 7, which integrates three modalities for image guidance – Fluoroscopy, Computerized Tomography (CT), and Ultrasound. Oak Valley Health is also the first hospital in Ontario to use a UV room disinfector, mounted at ceiling level, using smart sensors to disinfect the room after every use.
Interventional radiology procedures are performed by an interventional radiologist specialists and medical radiation technologists.
