Hand hygiene in our hospitals

Hand hygiene in our hospitals

Keeping hands clean is one of the best ways of preventing infections. Practising hand hygiene using alcohol-based hand rub or washing hands using soap and water can reduce germs. This practice should be done often and at the least before eating, after using the washroom, and after sneezing or coughing. Families and visitors should also follow hand hygiene practices and stay home when sick.

At Oak Valley Health you will find hand hygiene stations accessible and available for all who enter our hospitals. In addition, our health care providers are trained on the four moments of hand hygiene which are the key indications for performing hand hygiene before, during, and after patient care. Health care providers are constantly monitored and audited on their hand hygiene practices and this information is shared with the leadership in the area.

Should you have concerns with our hand hygiene practices, please reach out to 905-472-7373 ext. 6991.
